To create my final product I used the media convention other other rock / metal magazines I used a mix of both metal hammer and kerrang but I mostly used kerrang to help me. I used these magazine as I enjoy reading these types of magazines and enjoy the style of music they focus on I find the layout of the magazine look quite cool so I tried to adapt the style to my own magazine with the photos and text formats.
My magazine mainly focuses on rock and metal band but also consists of allot of punk rock bands. For my front cover I tried to take a photo of a group of people who look like they could be a punk rock band so that they look like a popular rock band to make it look professional.
The target audience for my magazine is from 17 to 21 years. The reason for this is that the contents in this magazine are mostly understood by this age group. The gender target will be both males and females the increases the possible market size for the magazine. Beserk magazine will be a niche magazine like kerrang.
Independent company's will most likely distribute my magazine for me this will be because the circulation of the magazine will be quite small due to it been a new product on the market. The magazine will be promoted in many ways but mainly by the use of the Internet over the radio and by the use of posters and advertising boards as these are all quite cheap to advertise in comparison to television and are all known for getting there point across effectively.

convensions of a double page spread
1. Colours of the magazine that go with the genre, e.g. using dark limited clolours if the magazine is a heavy metal magazine.
3. photo and images that are genre related, eg the way they will edit a photo to suit the genre such as for a pop mag will make it seem more light colors and effects to make it stand out and grab peoples attension
4. Anchorage: matching of words to images or the juxtaposition of two images which construct a meaning.
5. Sell lines that relate to the genre, e.g. metal hammer – rock till you drop!
6. Synergy - is the promotion and sale of a product throughout the various subsidiaries .
7. Mode Of Address: tell you who the main / specific target audience is for the magazine .
8. Advertisements - they should relate to the magazines genre, e.g. banners posters
9. Masthead must show the genre of the magazine
10. Reviews - on bands and artists that match the genre of the magazine.

Tretment
Magazine title BESREK
Summary My magazine will be a heavy metal/ punk rock magazine using serif I will make the front cover and using quark ill be making the contence page and double page spread. It will be released on the 1st of every month. It will be sold for around 3pounds
Target audience- my target audience will be between the ages of 15 to 24 year olds and mainly males.
Photography Design For the front cover iam going to get a group photo of around four people for my magazine and make them look like a band either a rock heavy metal or punk style band using medium closeups or medium shots. For my contence ill get a few single photos of people using medium close-ups and another group shot for the double page spread.
Research the layout will be based on the kerrang layout been 297 by 210 (A4) with the contents page consisting of many photos and the double page spread containing a group photo of a band with there story written. It will be similar to a kerrang magazine but will have some differences to make it look original. `
`
Initial Recce considerations: the health and safety risks will be people standing on tables and on the stairs while taking the photos they run a risk of falling and receiving serious injury’s so they will need to be a first aider in the area. Also the risk of people running ar

RE: lesson Objective
Hi, i have noticed the titles you have come up with for your magazine, i think they are all good ideas, but i especially like the "Beserk" title. You could improve the "steel mallet" by adding a drop shadow.

metal hammer is portrayed as a masculine weapon this connoted it may include violence/blood, another things that point to this is the colours used in the masthead white and red which are seen as more masculine colours and could represent blood which reverts back to the title used in the magazine. The text also has red around the mask head making the red appear to be repressented as blood .
The target audience for Metal hammer varies but is mainly aimed at males with all its masculine contents and colors used. the target age range would be around 16 to 24 but many people older would probably read it too and also even thought its aimed at men many females read this magazine to.
On the cover page for metal hammer theres a picture of the band Deathstars wh are coverd in blood witch goes with the mockhead and one of the band holding a skull the other with what looks like a gun and the center figure with a petrol bomb and a knife this all together connotes that the genre of heavy metal seems to be based around violence crime and dangerous people that are rebellious and mean business and are the real deal. This band are the only picture on the page to show how important and big they are as not many bands get to have the front cover all to them selfs
the main cover line the name of the band Deathstars and the line above this is (bring your daughters to the slaughter is there second single on there new album. The name deathstars is quite masculine and dark as death isn't a nice thing an it goes with there image witch shows they are capable of bringing death to people. The colours used are basic masculine colours white and red with a black border around the text that is easy to read and stands out from the background .
Contents pagethe content page is pretty basic layout with all the text been in the top left side with the title of the band been in big bold letters and a short big of small print telling you a short bit of information about the band this gives a short and rough guide line to what each band is currently doing and so you can expect to read about on each page. The band are put into two different columns one for the bands witch are in the magazine most often and the featured bands that arnt often in this magazine with images of the most popular bands on the right side. They also have the reviews in a small box at the bottom with a small photo of the lead men in the bands at each side of the band titles. All the texts are made so they stand out from the backgrounds as main band names are in a thick black font ans the background is white. One of the main images used is the lead man in deathstars using a medium shot of him with a world globe as he stabs it and the globe pores with blood this could represent the rebellion to capitalism/government.

The double page spreadfor the double page spread it contains the five members of deathstar the band members have been placed in order due the the how important or how popular the band member is an example of this is the first person on the page is whiplasher bernadotte also know as ( andreas bergh ) who shares the largest space with nightmare industries ( emill nodtveidt ) as the other three have to share the page together the lead singer also overlappes the person next to him marking sure he stands out the most . as the first thing you see is the lead singer it grabs your attention and the ones further to the right arnt as important as the one before him. As you move right u can see how the band have less accessories with them as the first band member the lead singer has a petrol bomb a knife and a cigar the person next to him has a gun then the guy next to him has a skull the third then only has a bottle of wine and finally the last guy only has a silver disco ball witch stands out a lot less then a knife or a gun. The only information on this page is at the bottom so it doesn't cover anything of the important image only cuts the legs off making each person a medium shot and the only important information on the page is the statement that there new album is going to be bigger then aids which says they thing a lot of them selfs and are quite dark with the way they compare it to aids. The text that draws your attention its the worlds Sleazy does it ! Witch is in big red blood style texts witch then makes you want to read the smaller text to find out what that means.
